Today, I took the following photos in Sheffield:
-What was a success?
A success today was the amount of photographic techniques I managed to use in a small space of time, producing some nice photos. I was unable to use a DSLR, but the techniques I used today were:
Texture
Leading lines
Macro
Below-eye viewpoint
Above-eye viewpoint
Composition
Framing
Light
-What was a challenge?
A challenge today was not being able to use a DSLR due to unavailability, and also only having a short space of time to take my photographs in. I thought I made the best of the circumstances, however.
-Did your planning work?
I had originally planned to use a DSLR, so some of my planning involving shutter speed and aperture wasn't possible on my phone. However, I still used most of the techniques I wanted to use so yes, I would say that it worked well. It helped me to manage my time well as I knew what types of photo I wanted to take.
-What will you change for your identity shoot?
For my identity shoot, I will obviously use a DSLR and not my phone. This means I will be able to use more features, such as shutter speed and aperture. I will also make sure I have more time for shooting, hopefully a whole day. Additionally, the location will be different as the photos were taken in the city today, but for my identity shoot I will be photographing the countryside of the Peak District.
-What will you do again in your identity shoot?
For my identity shoot, I will be using lots of different photographic techniques like I did today. I will also be planning my shots so that they look as good as possible at the end of the shoot and I manage my time effectively. My planning will be more detailed than the 20 minutes worth I did today, but it will still aid me in a similar way.
-What rules of photography will you use in your identity shoot?
I intend to take many photographs using many rules on my identity shoot so I have a lot to choose from for my final five photos. However, the main rules/techniques I want to focus on are:
Macro
Centre of interest
Rule of thirds
Leading lines
Depth-of-field
Framing
-Note:
I would have preferred to take these photos with a DSLR camera, but stock had run out. Therefore, I had to do my best with my phone. However, I took proper tester shots of the Peak District using a DSLR a few weeks ago, which can be seen in a previous post on my blog.
